Formació de l'estructura going to + infinitiu

Aquesta estructura es construeix amb les formes del temps present continuous del verb go (I'm going, She's going, etc.) més l'infinitiu del verb que correspongui precedit de la partícula to (to visit, to answer, etc.):

• I'm, He's, She's, We're, You're They're...
• going to...
• visit some friends this afternoon
• watch TV tomorrow
• leave at six o'clock
• play tennis in ten minutes
• paint the kitchen on Friday
• go to the cinema next week. Es pot ometre to go: We're going to the cinema next week.

Les formes negatives es construeixen de la següent manera:

• I'm not going to play tennis tomorrow
• He's not going to watch TV this evening
• He isn't going to...

Les formes interrogatives es construeixen de la següent manera:

• Are you going to stay at home tonight? Et quedaràs a casa aquesta nit?
• Is it going to rain? Plourà?
• What is he going to do? Què farà ell?

En la parla col·loquial, la forma verbal going to es pronuncia gonna.
